rmatThe Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, on March 1, 2019. Through this scheme, citizens of the state are provided health insurance coverage of up to ₹500,000. The Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana was initiated by the central government, which aimed to provide health insurance to citizens falling under the SECC 2011.
In this scenario, there were many citizens who were not included in the SECC 2011 list. Therefore, they were unable to avail themselves of the benefits of the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana. In order to provide benefits to all such citizens, the Uttar Pradesh government initiated the UP Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana.
Through this scheme, all those families who are not eligible for the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana are covered. Approximately 10 crore families are being provided benefits through this scheme. All families who have applied under this scheme can avail themselves of free treatment through government and private empaneled hospitals.
The entire cost incurred under the UP Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana will be borne by the state government. To avail the benefits of this scheme, a golden card will be provided by the government. After receiving the golden card, the eligible family will have to pay ₹30 as a nominal amount.
The benefits and features of the Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana are as follows:
- Inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on March 1, 2019.
- Provides health insurance coverage of up to ₹500,000 to citizens of the state.
- Extends benefits to those citizens who were unable to avail themselves of the benefits of the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana.
- Approximately 10 crore families are expected to benefit from this scheme.
- All beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana 2024 can avail themselves of free treatment from empaneled government and private hospitals.
- The entire cost of the scheme is borne by the state government.
- The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to include 40 lakh Antyodaya cardholder families under this scheme, as decided in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on July 21, 2021.
- A budget of ₹102 crore has been allocated for the implementation of this scheme.
- Provision for additional funds will be made through supplementary budget if required for the implementation of this scheme.
- The scheme covers pre- and post-hospitalization expenses.
- Pre-existing conditions are covered from the first day under this scheme.
Eligibility criteria for the Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana 2024 are as follows:
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
- The benefit of this scheme will be provided to the applicant only if they are not receiving benefits from any other government health insurance scheme.
- The applicant should belong to the economically weaker section.
